Looking To Get your fingers Dirty? Eastern food bazaar is the place
for you, you want to feast on good value street food and you don’t know where
to go. At The Eastern
Food Bazaar gives Cape Town that experience. Here people from all walks of life
gather around for a bite. In this narrow pathway between Long Market Street and
Darling Street. It's amazing to see so many different people coming together in
one place to enjoy the same thing. Eastern food bazaar offers unbelievable prices,
meals ranging from R20 to 50 depending on what will satisfy your pallet, and
there is a lot to choose from. Most of the food stalls are Indian, but there is
an Istanbul stall that dishes up shwarma and hummus with perfectly cooked chips
and a salad garnish. The China Town stall serves chicken, panee or
vegetables, Manchurian or Szechwan style, each either ginger or chilli, with
fried rice or noodles. Bombay Bites does a vegetable curry of the day. The
Kebab Counter serves tandoori chicken, tikka lamb and shish kebab. Pizza is
also available as well as yoghurt drinks or smoothies and homemade ice cream. Alcohol is
not available or allowed on the premises and everything is strictly halal.
Everything is freshly prepared in front of you with a variety of dishes dishes
to choose from.
The exotic
smells of spices quickly lure you and smooth sounds of Bollywood music playing
in the background.t Alcohol is not available or allowed on the
premises and everything is strictly halal. The atmosphere is lively with crowds
making their way to their tables some queuing to place their orders. While
taking a moment you will quickly notice how many languages are spoken around
you. Inside this walkway it decorated with ornate mogul paintings, wooden
screens and carved doors from India.
On a Friday
night after much debating with myself whether to cook or get takeout. I thought
of favourite my place where I have enjoyed many meals with my friends. I
managed to twist two of my best friends
to go have dinner with me.so was looking forward to just relax after a long
week of tests and assignment and catch up with my friends over food and drinks.
After getting all dressed up we headed down to the corner of long market street.
We were greeted by crowds of people coming from the ‘We are One colour festival’
that was in Grand Parade and some local Capetonians and international tourist.
We quickly made our way to the till to order we waited behind roughly ten
people which show how busy and how well people enjoy food here. While waiting
for a few minutes a gentleman, who I believe is one of the owners showed us an
unoccupied till for us to go to. We placed our orders and the staff were
friendly and we made our way to different stalls to collect our food. I ordered
a shwarma on a pita bread with chips, I had to hand my till slip to the over
the counter to a tired chef you tried to give me a smile on a few occasions. A good
presentation of the food, the service was standard I felt anxious to sit down
after receiving my food. We had to look for a table but since the place was
packed to capacity on the ground floor we headed upstairs where we found ourselves
a table as we sat down. We looked our plates for a few minutes the aroma was
amazing the meat was tender and perfectly cooked.it was just a good night with Good
food, good company what more could we ask for.
